We are preparing for a 24-hour campaign to raise $5000 to help cover costs of funding our local Nicaraguan pastors to meet urgent needs, medical and dental care, food, and transportation that will help these disciples of Jesus reap the harvest.   A generous donor has already offered to match the first $2,500.  We now have TWO matches! The first $2500 donated will be TRIPLED! The fundraiser will begin this coming Tuesday, August 11 at 12 PM EST.

As we’ve sought the Lord’s focus for New Song, it has become clear: enable the local pastors. They give out the riches of the true gospel to their poor and suffering communities. They carry a deep desire to make disciples and minister to their own people. They have outreaches to men and boys on the street, those incarcerated in local prisons, and the children in the local “dump” who sell trash to earn money for food. These pastors need resources. Our eight pastors work in 5 rural areas, making disciples in their communities. Their responsibility is to develop the gifts in the members of their church, equipping them to do the work of the ministry to reach out to those in need.Jesus taught us in Matthew 25 how important it is to meet urgent needs of the “least of these”– heal the sick, visit those in prison, feed the hungry – yet NOT to create dependency.Titus 3:14 teaches ”For our people should learn to do good by helping others who have urgent needs.”We plan to create an outreach of their churches, collaborating with the clinic administration to fulfill the great commission.  There will be spiritual leadership by the pastors, eager hands of the members, and professional health care and financial reporting through the clinic.

A Story of Hope:  Men From the Streets Get Baptized

Last week we baptized 2 new believers, Julio and Santo! They are from the street corner near the mission base where guys usually hang out and smoke. Both accepted Christ and began their new lives within the past few weeks. They both wanted to be baptized along with several other new believers from one of our local outreaches. They have asked for a pastor to teach them the Bible daily! What a GREAT JOY!
